When you begin to create your first website with WordPress, you may be confused by
the different features you find.The most common question is "What is the difference
between pages and posts?". Pages and Posts are both key components of a
WordPress site.Your site can consist of either all posts, or all pages. Below are specific
explanations of both content types.
Posts
Once logged into your WordPress dashboard, you can create your very first post.Blog
posts are displayed in chronological order with the most recent post at the top. As you
begin to post more often, older posts will be pushed down the page. To get started, click
“Posts” on the left side menu bar.
Once clicked, this will display a list of posts that are currently published on your website.You will see there is already one post on your website titled, "Hello World!". Under posts, click "Add New" to add your own post and start blogging.
Add your information in the editor and click publish.
Your first post is published and is now live on your website for to view.
Pages
A WordPress page is a webpage that will show in your menu bar for your website
visitors to access.Pages are different than posts,Posts have tags and category
selections but in Pages it doesn’t have these options.Pages is better suitable for
business related websites,Organizations,Schools,and Educational Institution websites.
To create Pages click “Pages” from the menu of the dashboard at left side
Click Page → Add New
A new window will open enter the title and description.In editor there shows two icons
Visual and Text.In visual you can make Bold,Italic,List and Underline options will be
found.In Text you can add links,add html codes for custom design,so I recommened if
you are strong in html you can use Text for entering your description here after finishing
click “Publish”.
Once the site is published, if you visit the website you will notice that the new page is
now listed in the menu bar. You can create as many pages your website needs.
Widgets
Widgets is a great tool that can be add to your blog's sidebar and it can be remove if
you don't want it you can access widgets from
Appearance → widgets
To Add widgets drag the available widgets from the left sidebar and add it to the Right
side.
If you cannot find the widgets in the available widgets you can install it from the
Plugin.Where here you can get more plugins you can choose that suites to your website.
Plugins
To choose plugins select Plugins from the dashboard menu and enter your search
terms in the search box it will shows list of plugins.Before installing plugins please check
that it shows any warning.If nothing shows you can Click Install Now button and then
